Organisations in South Africa, including NGOs, NPOs, NPCs, PTYs, or Trusts, can apply to the South African Revenue Service (SARS) for recognition as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO). Upon approval, they may qualify for an exemption from Income Tax, provided their operations are strictly non-profit and align with the stipulations of the Income Tax Act of 1962.
